Tanzanian woman killed after car plunges into river
KUALA LUMPUR: A Tanzanian woman was killed while her friend was injured when the car they were travelling in plunged into a river near the Ampang Waterfront food court, near here, early Saturday.
Ampang Jaya Police Headquarters Traffic chief DSP Hambazi Abdul Rahman said the car had hit the steel barrier at the Ampang Waterfront parking area before plunging into the river.In the 1.30am incident, Apolonia Mbogo David Mwangosi, 46, died on the spot while the driver of the car Linus Okafor, 35, a Nigerian, only suffered minor injuries.
"The body of the deceased was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital while the injured is receiving treatment at Ampang Hospital," he said.
Meanwhile, Ampang Fire and Rescue Station Operation chief M. Pusparajan said they received a distress call at 1.52am and the body of the deceased was extricated from the damaged car at about 3am. - Bernama
