Police shot dead a suspected drug dealer during an high-speed pursuit, recovering a revolver, a hand grenade and drugs from the scene.



ALOR SETAR: Police shot dead a suspected drug dealer during an early morning high-speed pursuit at Taman Rakyat here, recovering a revolver, a hand grenade and drugs from the scene.
The incident occurred at about 4am, when a team of D9 (serious crime division) personnel from state police contingent headquarters were carrying out patrols in the area.
They then spotted a white Honda Civic car being driven by a man in his 30s and ordered him to stop for inspection.
However, the car did not stop and sped off instead, and the police started a high-speed pursuit.
There was exchange of fire during the pursuit, and at least one bullet hit the suspect.
The suspect's vehicle spun out of control and rammed into a tree.
The suspect was found dead on the spot.


Kedah CID chief Comm Mohd Nashir Ya said a Smith & Wesson a revolver, a hand-grenade, some syabu and Erimine 5 pills were recovered from the suspect's car.
The case will be investigated under Section 3 of Firearms (Increased Penalty) Act 1971, Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act and Section 307 of Penal Code, said deputy Kedah police chief Dep Comm Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan.
