Villagers “Robbed” Supplies From Vico Lorry That Flipped Upside-Down In Kuala Selangor
When a lorry carrying a load of Vico chocolate malt beverages flipped upside-down yesterday in Jalan Kuala Selangor, a series of pictures spread on social media, showed passersby were more interested in carrying away the items instead of coming to the driver’s aid.
Facebook user Mohamad Fariduddin who shared the pictures expressed his disappointment with the attitude of the villagers there who were seen carrying away the Vico supplies.
“I am utterly disappointed by the attitude of the villagers as the police had warned them not to carry away the supplies, but they clearly fell on deaf ears.
“Hope the villagers would avoid this unruly behaviour, ask yourselves, are the items you stole HALAL?," he wrote with utter disgust.
Another user wrote on a forum: “Lori Vico terbalik, orang kutip vico. Welcome to Malaysia.Culture” (Vico lorry flipped upside-down, people save vico.Welcome to Malaysian Culture), and many others took to social media to condemn the irresponsible behaviour of the villagers.
However, after the case had gone viral, some users stepped up to explain that the lorry driver involved in the accident was in fact uninjured, although some of the boxes of supplies he carried in his vehicle were damaged from the accident.
“The villagers took the supplies after the lorry driver donated it to them, as the boxes would have been rejected either way by supermarkets and shops,” explained the user who claims her father works in the company.
She added: “The lorry driver had earlier asked permission from his boss prior to giving away the damaged supplies.”
