KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said today it is unhappy with the findings of a federal audit on several government agencies, noting that there was a decline in their financial management.
PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin noted that according to the Auditor-General’s latest release today, fewer agencies scored high points this year for their performances.
“Overall, we are not satisfied with their financial management. Their performances have dropped,” Hasan told a press conference today.
He suggested that more town hall sessions should be held between the Chief Secretary to the Government and the secretaries-general of each ministry.
Hasan said that the agencies that received ‘four star’ ratings for excellence dropped from 68 last year to this year’s 60.
A total of 70 agencies received three-star ratings this year, compared to last year’s 70.
Hasan also announced that the PAC will haul up seven ministries for questioning over several issues raised in the A-G’s report, namely the education ministry, health ministry, works ministry, agriculture and agro-based industry ministry, home ministry, defence ministry and the rural and regional defence ministry.
