GEORGE TOWN: Dozens of Harley-Davidson motorcycles tucked away in an alley off Beach Street proved to be an irresistible draw to a group of shutterbugs.
The “playground” for the group of 70 serious amateur photographers was at two rows of pre-war warehouses hidden behind the Saw Seng Kew & Co building opposite Whiteaways Arcade.
Organised by Canon Marketing together with the Penang chapter of the Harley Owners Group (Hog), the Harley-Davidson Photography Outing had models such as the Heritage Softail, Ultra Classic and the Trike.
Stunning models posed with the classic motorcycles. They obliged with various poses asked for by the photographers who were vying for prizes that included Harley merchandise and Canon products.
Canon Marketing Penang branch manager Edwin Teh said he planned the contest for Canon camera users when he learnt that the Penang chapter of Hog was organising a convoy of 68 riders in the northern region.
“Then it all fell together. The shiny Harleys, ravishing models and the old private warehouses created an incongruous juxtaposition that photographers love,” he said.
Hog Penang president Tan Kuan Aik said club members would gather regularly for short rides of under 100km, and they were pleased to oblige the photographers as they clicked away.
The photography contest was also demanding as submissions had to be printed straight out of the cameras, with no computerised edits allowed.
