KOTA KINABALU: A tourist mocked Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun again and Malaysians who blamed his act of stripping on Mount Kinabalu for the earthquake last Friday.

Emil Kaminski has uploaded a 12-minute-and-35-second video on YouTube titled “Trolling Malaysia” on his account “monkeetime”, and questioned how Masidi could be the state’s tourism, culture and environment minister when he does not understand geology.

Kaminski is also linked the video to Facebook page “Monkeetime”, which is dedicated to videos of his “comedy travels” starring him and his friends, although some “don’t stay friends after the video goes online and they see the finished product.”

In the video, Kaminski related how “all hell broke loose” after he called Malaysian politicians “stupid” for linking the nudity incident to the earthquake on the Facebook page, while suggesting this was not his first time stripping naked on a mountain.

He then proceeded to read some of the vulgar comments and violent threats made against him by Malaysians on the page, which included several “insults” calling his mother “green”.

In addition, Kaminski also read several comments of Malaysians who disagreed with some Sabahans’ claim that the earthquake was caused by the nudists disrespecting the mountain.

Kaminski was involved in a Twitter showdown with Masidi on Monday.

Masidi said on Monday that Kaminski appeared to be one of the 10 nudists on Mount Kinabalu from his Facebook, but the minister said he is too civilised to “stoop to his level” and argue with him.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan has blamed Friday’s quake that resulted in the death of 18 on the “disrespectful and uncivilised” act of 10 Europeans going naked on the mountain top whom he claimed had angered the spirits of Mount Kinabalu.

Authorities said they had identified five of the 10 culprits — two Canadians, two Dutch and a German national.

The act angered many Sabahans and the local Dusun community who consider it a sacred site and believe it to be the final resting place of their ancestors.
