KUALA LUMPUR: Action will be taken against the Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer who imposed the "sarong policy" on a woman, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).
Liow also said he had instructed JPJ to apologise to the woman for asking her to wear a sarong because she was in a skirt deemed short at one of its branches on Monday.
"I will be bringing up this matter in Parliament later, answering any queries from the MPs," Liow told reporters Wednesday.
He reiterated that JPJ did not have a "sarong policy" and existing guidelines would be reviewed.
Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching brought up the matter in Parliament Tuesday, saying the traditional outfits of Chinese and Indian were usually sleeveless and if this would or would not be accepted at government offices
