Alleged buttock-pincher charged
BY HIDIR REDUAN - 16 JUNE 2015 @ 6:01 PM KUALA LUMPUR:

A Somalian business graduate claimed trial to pinching the buttocks of a corporate executive in a monorail train two weeks ago. Mubarik Hassan Hashi was charged at the magistrate's court today with outraging the 24-year-old woman's modesty in the train at Hang Tuah Monorail Station, Dang Wangi here.

The 31-year-old who is accused of committing the offence around 6.10pm on June 3 may be jailed up to ten years, fined, whipped, or sentenced to any of the two penalties if found guilty under Section 354 of the Penal Code. Deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa sought for the court to set bail at RM5,000 with two local sureties as well as two bail conditions. The conditions are for Mubarik to surrender his passport to the court and to report to the nearest police station once a month.

Mubarik's counsel Abdul Halem Mohamad Husin pleaded for lesser bail because his client could only start work in October once Immigration paperwork is cleared. Halem said that Mubarik's wife and his mother-in-law, both Malaysian citizens, are willing to act as bailors, and that they do not mind the bail conditions.

Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin granted RM3,500 bail with two local sureties, and ordered Mubarik to abide by the two bail conditions. She set July 28 for mention.
