PETALING JAYA: Her anguished cry to reporters who approached her was simply: “Anak saya dah mati (my daughter is dead).”

Siti Salmy Suib, 32, whose daughter Siti Soffea was gruesomely beheaded on Thursday, was clearly dazed as she arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary about 9am yesterday.
Accompanied by four friends to claim the body of her two-year-old, she was seen walking very quickly, almost as if in a hurry to get everything over with as soon as possible.
Every time Siti Salmy saw reporters approaching, she would quickly cover her face with a white cloth.
She was seen leaving the mortuary in a police car at about 11.45am before returning after Friday prayers at about 2.30pm.
Approached by reporters later at the Batu Muda Cemetary in Gombak where Siti Soffea was laid to rest, she said:
Saya dah cakap tak nak cakap. Tak faham bahasa kah? (I told you I do not want to talk. Don’t you understand?),” she said before leaving.
A sales promoter at the Kota Raya mall said the homeless mother and child were seen loitering around there almost daily.
“She was a cute girl. Most of us liked her. Some of the people working here would sometimes buy her food and drinks,” she said of the two-year-old.
She said Siti Salmy and her daughter even took their baths in the toilets there.
“Sometimes they would be here from morning until night.
“Most of the people who work here can recognise them,” she said, adding that the mother would usually spend time with her friends on the fourth floor of the mall which housed the games arcade and karaoke area.
The sales promoter said Siti Salmy was usually seen walking with her plastic bags which contained her clothes and used to bring her two other children to the mall.
“When we asked her about her other two children, she said she had already sent them back to her kampung,” she said.
