Malaysian Super League club T-Team have lodged a police report against Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (above), alleging that he had made death threats to their foreign player Fabio Flor.
The alleged incident happened at half-time during the second-round FA Cup match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and T-Team at Larkin Stadium last Saturday, with the hosts leading 2-1.
A source confirmed with The New Paper that in the police report, 33-year-old Brazilian defender Flor claimed that Tunku Ismail, also the Crown Prince of Johor, had said: “F*** you Brazil, I’ll kill you, this is my country.”
Flor reponded by saying: “Why do you want to kill me? I come to play football.” T-Team CEO Abdul Rasid Jusoh then intervened and pulled Flor away into the dressing room, as stated in the police report, which was recorded in Malay.
According to Malaysian newspaper The Star, the police report also stated that T-Team forward Evaldo Goncalves was allegedly punched in the nose by Tunku Ismail in the tunnel.
KUALA TERENGGANU: Fabio Flor De Azavedo, a professional footballer for T-Team, today lodged a police report against the Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for allegedly threatening to kill him during the half-time break in the match between Johor JDT and T-Team last weekend at the Larkin Stadium, in Johor.
In the police report lodged at the Kuala Terengganu police station this morning, the 33-year-old defender from Brazil said Tunku Ismail approached him during the interval of the match and threatened to kill the defender.
“As I was walking with my teammates during the break to the changing room, the Johor FA president came and said f*** you Brazil, I’ll kill you, this is my country,” he said in the police report.
Azadevo claimed that he replied by saying: “Why do you want to kill me, I come to play football”.
At this juncture T-Team CEO Abdul Rasid Jusoh intervened and pulled Fabio away into the dressing room, he stated in the police report.
According to earlier news reports, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Cesar Jimenez had a spat with one of T-Team coaching staff. The argument continued and players and staff from both teams stepped in and the argument continued inside the tunnel leading to the changing rooms.
T-Team refused to take the pitch, after the interval, in fear of safety and the match was eventually abandoned.
Terengganu police are mum on the police report.
The second round FA Cup match between the two teams at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin tonight has been postponed to a later date.
JDT was leading 2-1 in the first half, thanks to the goals scored by their Argentine striker, Luciano Figueroa in the 15th and 20th minute.
T-Team also known as the Titans managed to reduce the goal deficit through a free-kick scored by the team captain, Marzuki Yusoff.

PETALING JAYA: Again, all eyes will be on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the wrong reasons.
The competitions committee will deliberate the infamous Larkin Stadium “tunnel” incident in Kelana Jaya on Thursday.
The controversy is over the FA Cup second round match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and T-Team which was abandoned on Saturday.
It is a unique situation. The previous M-League abandoned matches were due to crowd violence or fan invasion of the pitch.
This time, a visiting team chose to walk out after a bust-up took place in the Larkin Stadium tunnel when the two teams were trooping out at half-time (with JDT leading 2-1). T-Team decided not to resume play in the second half due to “safety reasons”.
The competition rules state that the match commissioner has the right to decide on the status of a match - whether it should be postponed or not.
In the tunnel incident, Brazilian striker Edvaldo Goncalves alleged that he was punched in the nose by a top JDT official while fitness coach Stefano Impagliazzo was kicked in the groin by the official’s escort during the scuffle.
Another Brazilian, defender Fabio Flor de Azevado, claims he was verbally abused and threatened by the same official.
Police reports have been lodged by all three.
T-Team’s chief operating officer Mohd Syahrizan Mohd Zain also lodged a report at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters on Sunday. It is learnt that the reports were lodged to ensure “the safety of T-Team’s players” and named the “president of the Johor FA” as the perpetrator.
Competitions committee chairman Datuk Affandy Hamzah will have his hands full deciding the next course of action.
The fact remains that JDT were on the pitch to resume the second half while the visitors had packed their bags and gone home.
Will the game resume for the remaining 45 minutes in Larkin? Or will it be played behind closed doors or continued at a neutral venue? Will one of the teams be penalised and the other given a walk-over into the next round? It’s anyone’s guess.

THE Terengganu FA (TFA) want the FAM to investigate the alleged assault of T-Team players and the fitness coach during the FA Cup second round match. TFA president Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid said FAM must launch a thorough investigation.
FAM general secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin promised that stern action will be taken once they receive the match commissioner’s report. “We will get the match commissioner’s report on Monday ... the competitions committee will hold a meeting on Thursday to decide on the outcome of the match,” said Hamidin yesterday.

T-TEAM defender Irfan Abdul Ghani holds a press conference in Johor and claimed that no untoward incident happened in the Larkin Stadium tunnel during the match. Irfan said T-Team assistant coach Azlan Johar was the one who called for the team to pack up and abandon the match.
T-TEAM assistant coach Azlan Johor hits back at allegations made by Irfan. “The incident occurred at half-time when players were heading into the tunnel. As Irfan was a reserve player for that match, he and the other substitutes remained on the pitch, so he could not have seen what had happened.”
T-TEAM COO Mohd Syahrizan Mohd Zain said they would take action against Irfan for holding a press conference without the management’s permission. “He has indeed breached the management’s rules. We will decide how to deal with him. For now, we will leave the case to the police to investigate”.

KUALA TERENGGANU: About 15 people have been called up by the police and had their statements recorded in connection with the Johor Darul Ta’zim 1 (JDT1) and T-Team FC tunnel assault case.
Inspector-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police have received no less than four reports on the case from both teams and said urged the public to leave the case to them.
“We have called up at least 15 people and recorded their statements. Hopefully the public and the football fans can keep calm, just leave the matter to us (the police). Do not make speculations,” said Khalid, after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) on Wednesday.
He however did not say if the 15 were from JDT1 or T-Team or both.
Khalid also gave his assurance to the public that the investigations will be “transparent” and laughed it off when asked about football fans’ “scepticism” towards investigations involving JDT1.
“There is nothing for the public to be sceptical about. I assure you that whatever investigations we do will be done transparently.
“Arguments happen in football, it is normal. The teams will eventually meet again and by then they will be friends again. So I urge football fans to be calm and not quarrel over this case.
“The football matches must go on, so let’s not let this event disrupt the competitions. Leave the case to us,” he said.
The FA Cup fixture between JDT1 and T-Team at Larkin Stadium, Johor, last Saturday was abandoned halfway through, when players from T-Team refused to come out for the second half over “safety concerns”.
The Terengganu-based football club claimed that its fitness coach Stefano Impagliazzo and players Evaldo Goncalves and Fabio Flor de Azevado were assaulted in the tunnel by a top JDT1 official and his escort at half-time.
The trio lodged a police report last Sunday at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Johor Football Association (JFA) also lodged a police report in Johor Baru on Tuesday, claiming that Goncalves and Impagliazzo had assaulted JDT1 coach Cesar Jimenez.
JFA also denied T-Team’s accusations and claimed that it had given “a twisted version” of incidents at the tunnel.
