Sri Lankan found dead in rented condominium unit

KUALA LUMPUR: A Sri Lankan man has been found dead in his rented condominium unit in Taman Abadi Indah here due to what police believe is a sex act gone wrong.

Acting city CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said the 34-year-old Sri Lankan national, who recently graduated from a local college, had been dead between four and seven days.
His body was found on Tuesday after a security guard at the apartment broke open the door of the apartment unit following a request by his friend.
According to ACP Khairi, the friend was unable to enter the unit as he had misplaced his keys and had sought the help of the security guard.
“They went into the unit after breaking the door lock and was greeted by a putrid stench coming from the bedroom.
“The victim was found lying half-naked sprawled on his bed with various drug paraphernalia, lubricant and sex toys scattered around him,” said ACP Khairi, adding that initial investigations revealed that there were elements of crime in his death.
“Based on these findings, we believe that the victim may have been involved in same-sex activities.
“We are waiting for the post-mortem results to ascertain whether he was killed using a sharp object.
“However, no weapon was found at the site.”
He also said that whoever was in the apartment unit at the time of the murder had rummaged through the victim’s belongings.
ACP Khairi said the victim had been living on his own.
“He used to share the unit with three men – from Germany, Sri Lanka and Poland.
“The men, with the exception of the Polish, have long left the country,” he said.
ACP Khairi added that the police were looking for the Polish to assist in investigations.
He added that a man aged between 32 and 33 years old had been arrested in connection with the case.
“We have reviewed a CCTV recording of the suspect and will be releasing a photofit of him,” he said.
In an unrelated case, ACP Khairi said the police were looking for two female foreign workers for allegedly making off with RM120,000 worth of stolen loot.
The women – a Vietnamese and an Indonesian – were maids at a Datuk’s house in Taman Duta.
It is believed that the women took off with the loot while the Datuk was overseas.
The theft was discovered when the Datuk came home at about 7am on Monday.
“We have blacklisted the women and will be informed if they ever leave the country,” said ACP Khairi.
