Odd-job worker gunned down

BUTTERWORTH: A 33-year-old odd-job worker with a number of previous criminal records was gunned down in a hitman-style shooting at a block of flats at Taman Teluk Indah in Prai, here.
Penang CID deputy chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasir Salleh said R. Sivanesan was found dead by residents near the staircase of the flats at about 10.30pm on Saturday.
“Witnesses had earlier spotted the victim being chased by two men. We have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting,” he said, adding that the case had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Sivanesan, he added, had also sustained wounds on his chin and right hand.
“A post-mortem will be carried out at the Seberang Jaya Hospital,” he told reporters at the scene of the crime here yesterday.
