SUBANG JAYA: Police are hot on the heels of a burglary gang after the arrest of a member last week.
The gang is believed to have committed at least nine burglaries and robberies around Bukit Puchong, Kapar, Kuala Langat, Nilai and Klang with losses estimated at least RM1mil.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the gang would gain entry by prying open a window at the back of the house.
After ransacking the house, they would leave through the front door,” he said at a press conference Monday.
A 21-year-old gang member was arrested last Thursday at his house in Banting following a tip-off.
“Police recovered dozens of items in the house including personal documents, watches, televisions, laptop computers, jewellery and cash.
“Weapons including parang, knives and a knuckleduster were also found,” ACP Yahaya said.
Police also recovered two cars, a Toyota Camry stolen in Nilai, and a Perodua Myvi stolen from Bukit Puchong, from the 10 sets of car keys among the recovered loot.
ACP Yahaya said the two other members lived in Banting and more cases could be solved with their arrests.
The man who was arrested had been arrested over five previous cases including vehicle theft, burglary, trespassing and drug offences.
“He will be remanded until Feb 13 and the he is investigated under Sections 457 and 397 (a) for burglary and vehicle theft,” added ACP Yahaya.
