KOTA KINABALU: Police are seeking the advice of the public prosecutor's office on the next step to take in the death of a 12-year-old caddy girl in Keningau district.
Keningau police chief Deputy Supt Robert Salisip said they had just received the post mortem report on the girl, Almida Jalimin, who died after a golf ball struck her while she was caddying at the Keningau Golf Club on Jan 31.
Almida, the daughter of Filipino migrant workers, had been working as a caddy at the club for the past two years.
Deputy Supt Robert said, according to the post mortem, Almida's cause of death was head injury following blunt trauma.
Almida was standing about 6m from a golfer when the ball suddenly swerved and hit her in the right side of her neck.
The unconscious girl was rushed to the district hospital, where she was given outpatient treatment and allowed to return home around 11.30pm the same day.
However, just hours later, Alminah complained of a severe headache, vomitted and died at about 5am on Feb 1.
State Social Services Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad said the Welfare Department was continuing its probe on how an underage girl could work as a caddy.
The club is conducting an internal inquiry into the matter.
