Selangor Deputy Police Chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said this was based on statements from witnesses who saw the four men leaving the shop with a bag on the day of the robbery.
"We believe the incident occurred within 18 hours between Sunday night and Monday night...during that time, there was a blackout and the robbery may have happened during the blackout orchestrated by the suspects.
"We have contacted airport authorities to monitor Latin Americans coming in and out of the country," he told a news conference here on Tuesday.
He said the shop reportedly incurred RM10mil in losses and it would be re-evaluated during investigations.
DCP Abdul Rahim said the suspects also made off with the closed circuit television (CCTV) recorder and equipment to break open the safe box, not dismissing possibilities that an insider may have been an accomplice. - Bernama
