LOS ANGELES: A small plane crashed in a residential area in Minnesota, United States on Saturday, causing a house to catch fire, Xinhua reported citing a statement from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The SOCATA TBM7 aircraft reportedly crashed at a house around 12:20 p.m. local time (1920 GMT), according to the agency.
"The plane took off from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa and reportedly headed to Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minneapolis," the FAA said, adding that the number of passengers on board had not yet been determined. Local media, citing the Brooklyn Park Fire Department reported that no victims survived the incident.
Witnesses told television station KARE 11 that the plane crash sparked a fire in a house in Brooklyn Park.
The fire brigade said in a press conference that no occupants were inside the house when the fire broke out.
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed in a statement that an investigation is underway to identify the cause of the incident.
