Famous sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reports that The Red Devils are expected to pay a release clause worth 10 million pounds (RM47.32 million) to bring in the Portuguese operator.
Sporting also confirmed that they have discussed with United about the appointment of Amorim as the new manager of the giant English Premier League (EPL) team.
Amorim has reportedly agreed to occupy the hot seat at Old Trafford.
For the record, Amorim is currently driving Sporting to the top of the Primeira Liga with a clean record of nine wins from nine matches.
