Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) has appointed Mohamed Rafe Mohamed Haneef as its new group chief executive officer (CEO) effective July 1, 2023.

In its filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said this appointment comes as part of its strategic plans following the proposed acquisition of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF), where MBSB will serve as the holding company of the enlarged group.

"With the new appointment, the current MBSB group CEO Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib, will have his role re-aligned.

"Starting from the same date, he will concentrate on his responsibilities as the chief executive officer of MBSB Bank Bhd. This strategic decision allows for a more focused approach, ensuring effective leadership within both entities of the MBSB Group," it said in the filing.
