PHNOM PENH: The national contingent failed to improve its position in the medal collection chart despite adding six gold medals after the end of the fifth day of the 2023 SEA Games here on Wednesday.

Another three gold medals were parachutist Lee Yiat Qing in the women's 10m platform event, wushu athlete Tan Cheong Min (women's nanquan) and golfer Ng Jing Xuen in the women's individual event.

Malaysia also added seven silver medals and 10 bronze medals.

After yesterday's competition, Vietnam, which collected a total of 50 gold, 50 silver and 61 bronze medals, seized the top position, while the host Cambodia was in second position with 47-41-51.

Thailand, which previously led the medal table, dropped two steps to third place after collecting 47 gold, 36 silver and 53 bronze.
