PUTRAJAYA: UMNO's decision to postpone the Supreme Council (SC), Division and Branch elections for 18 months is invalid.
The Registration of Societies Department (RoS) said the matter was as contained in the minutes of the UMNO MT meeting on July 7.
RoS is of the view that the ruling is because the term of MT incumbents for the 2018/2021 term had expired on June 30.
"RoS is responsible to ensure that all activities and administration of registered societies are implemented in accordance with the Constitution of the respective Societies which does not conflict with the Societies Act 1966 or national law," he said in a statement today.
