Malaysia hits 7,289 COVID-19 cases, 60 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Daily COVID-19 cases have been above the 6,000-mark for the past seven consecutive days, with the infection rate today breaching the 7,000-mark.
Malaysia's daily new COVID-19 infections logged a total of 7,289 cases within the last 24 hours.
This further swells the overall total of cases to 525,889 since the pandemic hit the country.
Active cases now stands at 63,458.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor alone recorded 2,642 cases.
Meanwhile Johor reported another 664 cases and Kuala Lumpur with another 604.
Kelantan and Negri Sembilan reported 425 and 410 cases respectively, while Penang logged 380 cases, and Kedah 336 cases.
Other states also with three-digit infections were Terengganu with 268, Sabah with 266, Melaka with 258, Perak with 218 and Pahang with 211.
The Health Ministry (MOH) also detected 15 new COVID-19 clusters in Sarawak, Penang, Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur. Sabah, Kedah, Perak, Pahang, and Kelantan.
About 10 of the clusters were linked to workplaces, while the remaining five were community and religious clusters, according to the MOH data.
The clusters are:
Jalan Dato Permaisuri (Miri, Sarawak)
Perusahaan Maju Enam (Seberang Prai Tengah, Penang)
Tasek Raja (Pasir Mas, Kota Baru and Tanah Merah, Kelantan)
Kalabakan Selatan (Kalabakan, Sabah)
Dah Cherok Bemban (Baling and Sik, Kedah)
Jalan Segambut Lentang (Kuala Lumpur)
Industri Kledang Satu (Kinta, Perak)
Dr Noor Hisham also said that the three clusters in Johor were Jalan Cemerlang Elektrik and Jalan Sekuntum in Johor Bahru and Jalan Selendang in Kulai.
Selangor reports the most number of new clusters, namely:
Persiaran Setia Dagang Construction Site (Petaling)
Jalan Enam Selatan 1A (Sepang, Petaling and Kuala Langat)
Jalan Tahir Manan (Kuala Selangor)
Desa Pinggiran Putra (Sepang)
Sungai Isap Perdana (Hulu Langat and Kuantan, Pahang).
A total of 60 new deaths were also reported overnight, raising the cumulative fatality to 2,369 deaths.
MOH also recorded 3,789 recoveries today, bringing the total to 460,062 of those recovered and discharged.
Dr Noor Hisham said 726 COVID-19 patients have been warded in the intensive care units (ICU) and 373 of them needing ventilator support.
