KUALA LUMPUR: Interstate travel for tourism between states placed under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) is now allowed beginning tomorrow (March 10).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said travel for tourism, under the targeted travel bubble, however, will be subjected to tight conditions.

"These conditions include using tourism agencies and tour vehicles registered with the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac).

"The use of privately owned vehicles is not allowed, as it will be difficult for the police to monitor movement," he said in a daily press conference today.

He said travelling from one RMCO state to another via a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) state is allowed. However, tour agencies' vehicles are not allowed to stop at any areas in the CMCO states.

"For example, those from Putrajaya wanting to go to Melaka, are allowed to travel through Negri Sembilan (CMCO state) without making any stops," he said.

He said accommodation and activities must be arranged in advance.

Ismail Sabri said tour agency operators will seek police permission for interstate travel on behalf of their customers.

States that are currently under RMCO are Perlis, Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, as well as Putrajaya and Labuan.

Meanwhile, in the same press conference, Ismail Sabri said Langkawi will be placed under RMCO from CMCO, starting tomorrow (March 10).

This is as the island is now a green zone, with its last two cases recorded on Feb 20.

"As Langkawi is a travel destination, the targeted travel bubble is also applied on the island," he said, adding that Kedah is still under CMCO.
