SINGAPORE, Nov 11 -- Camaraderie!

That could be the best word to describe the latest ad by Tourism Malaysia’s Singapore office, asking Singaporeans to explore the island city for now amid cross-border restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Just like Burger King never thought they'd be promoting a Big Mac, we too, never thought we'd be asking you to do this.

“We would never have imagined encouraging you to spend your holidays in Singapore, but our friends in the tourism industry could use your support at the moment. While we dream of soaking under the sun in Pulau Redang, Sentosa is just as good for now.

“So, if you want to help, begin your #SingaporeRediscovers today,” posted the Office on its official Facebook page today.

The ad posting https://www.facebook.com/107026329336542/posts/3555713817801092/?d=n has garnered 518 shared so far.

One of the Facebook users, Firdaus Wahid commented: “Love thy neighbour. Thanks Malaysia. Missing you loads!”

As for Burger King, its Team UK had early this month put up an ad asking customers to order from its rival McDonald's to support the food chain’s staff as UK entered a lockdown.

“We never thought we’d be asking you to do this, but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment.

"So, if you want to help, keep treating yourself to tasty meals through home delivery, takeaway or drive thru. Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing."
