KOTA BHARU, Nov 11 -- The Kelantan Health Department (JKNK) has issued 246 COVID-19 surveillance wristband to those entering Kelantan from red zone areas as of yesterday, says its director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

He said of the total, 234 individuals were wearing pink wristbands while the remaining wore green ones, in line with the regulations over the matter introduced by the state government for persons under surveillance for COVID-19 on Monday.

“Those wearing the two wristbands are urged to follow the SOPs," he told reporters after attending the Kelantan state-level National Security Council meeting here today.

Travellers from red zones who enter Kelantan for general purposes would be asked to wear a pink wristband and undergo a 14-day quarantine after undergoing COVID-19 screening, while the green wristband would be worn by government officers and VIPs from red zones who came to the state for official duties via four entry points and the airport.

Commenting further, Dr Zaini said around 20 to 25 health officers would be mobilised at each roadblock while 50 more would be stationed at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport.

"The relevant authorities will continue monitoring compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for those wearing wristbands at public places from time to time,” he said.

Taking note of the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Kelantan, Dr Zaini urged everyone to continue to comply with the SOP set by the Ministry of Health to curb the spread of the pandemic in the state.

"So far, the situation is still under control in Kelantan, but it is hoped that the people comply with the SOP such as observing physical distancing, wearing a face mask when in public places and avoiding crowded places,” he advised.
