KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has called on the authorities investigating the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal to stop the leaks about bags, jewellery and cash allegedly confiscated during police raids.
The leaks had sparked a "media hailstorm" which has led to "targeted vilification of our family to provoke public anger," said Rosmah through law firm Valen, Oh & Partners.
"It is our hope that the authorities would observe the rule of law and due process, to avoid a premature public trial."
She hoped the authorities would clamp down on moles in their midst who are leaking details about items which had allegedly been confiscated.
“However, we would like to bring to attention about the seemingly compromised inquiry process, whereby a series of leaks pertaining to the probe has made its way into social media spheres, in real time,” she said.
“Enforcement agencies should not be feeding social media trolls, but observe and uphold strict professionalism at all times,” she added.
Federal investigators have been diligently searching properties linked to Rosmah and Najib since last Wednesday, including the couple’s private mansion in Taman Duta and two luxury condo units in Pavilion Residences in Kuala Lumpur.
The official residence of the prime minister in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya and the Prime Minister’s Office in Putra Perdana are also being combed. The confiscated items include several truckloads with boxes of luxury Hermes, Chanel and Gucci handbags and suitcases with hard cash in various currencies.
