PETALING JAYA: Former Petrosaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo (pic, right) had a 90-minute meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Sunday that the former described as "intense".

Justo told The Star Online that the meeting was held at Dr Mahathir's residence and called it a "great" meeting.

"It was an intense and wonderful moment to discuss with your Prime Minister," he said.

When asked about the details of the discussion, Justo was tight-lipped.

The Swiss national posted a photo of himself with Dr Mahathir on his Facebook on Sunday evening.

Justo is a key figure in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case and was said to have shared information on PetroSaudi's multi-billion ringgit joint-venture with 1MDB with Sarawak Report.

The leaked documents led to a damaging expose by Sarawak Report and triggered an international investigation into 1MDB.

In 2015, he landed in jail in Thailand after being found guilty for attempting to blackmail his former employer PetroSaudi over its ties to 1MDB.

Past reports said Justo, who quit PetroSaudi in 2011, demanded 2.5 million Swiss francs (RM10.9mil) from PetroSaudi's chief executive in 2013 for not divulging information he held on the company.

The firm had paid him off once before and refused to pay him again, instead filing a complaint with the Thai police in May 2015.

In June 2015, Thai police arrested Justo at his home in Koh Samui.

In December 2016, Justo was released after receiving a royal pardon by Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradevarangkun.
