IPOH: A fish breeder was arrested after two home-made air guns were found hidden behind the toilet next to his house in Grik on Tuesday.
State deputy police chief Datuk A. Paramasivam said acting on a tip-off, police went to the house of the 56-year-old man in Kampung Pahat Dalam at 1.30am.
On checking, they found the guns which the man claimed he was keeping for his own protection, Paramasivam said here yesterday.
Police are investigating if the guns were used for any criminal activities.
The suspect, who has no criminal record, has been remanded until Saturday.
The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960.
The offender can be jailed up to seven years or fined RM10,000 or both on conviction.
Paramasivam also said three members of Gang 04 and Gang 08 had surrendered last week after their nicknames were highlighted in the media.
"They have been released on police bail after police completed investigations on them."
