RTM TERMINATES SERVICES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN TAMPERING POLICE LOGO!

KUALA LUMPUR: Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has suspended and terminated the services of individuals allegedly involved in tampering the police logo.

Broadcasting director-general Datuk Norhyati Ismail said RTM took serious view of the matter and had lodged a police report in an effort to redeem its image.

"The matter was put right and an apology was aired on the national news bulletin at midnight last night. An official letter of apology has been sent to the inspector-general of police (Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar)," she said in a statement today.

The offending logo was noticed by a senior police officer who was watching a news update on 'Op Cantas' over Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) at noon yesterday.

Norhyati said the disciplinary committee, which met today, deliberated on further action that could be taken following the incident.

The action taken had been posted on the broadcasting department's social network site.

Meanwhile, RTM deputy director TV productions Norliza Mohd Ali said RTM would air two dramas featuring social values and national integration in conjunction with the Malaysia Day.

She said the dramas entitled 'Cahaya Cinta' and 'Langit Yang Sama' were suitable for family viewing as they portrayed a message of integration, noble values, good neighbourliness, love and forgiveness.

"Cahaya Cinta, which is about a friendship between three neighbouring families and the closeness of their children, will be aired on TV1 at 2pm on Monday.

"Langit Yang Sama, which is about a conflict in four families of different religion, ethnicity and culture, will be aired over four episodes from Sept 16 to 19 at 3.30pm on TV2," she said after a preview of the two dramas at Angkasapuri here, today. -- BERNAMA
