ROBBER KILLED WHILE ESCAPING

KAJANG: A robber was killed when he fell off his motorcycle while escaping with an accomplice after robbing a woman at Taman Cheras Perdana earlier today.



The knife-wielding duo had just robbed a woman who had just returned home from work and coming out of her parked Hyundai Elantra in the Taman Megah flats parking lot at 6.30am.
When the woman gave chase, district police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the robber who was the pillion rider, threw his helmet at the car when they reached a traffic light junction at Taman Cheras Perdana here.
"His action backfired when the rider lost control and they crashed into a road divider
"The two men fell of the bike, and the pillion rider's hand got caught underneath the car's tyre.
"After the woman moved the car to release the man, his accomplice got into the vehicle and escaped," he said.
 An ambulance then transported the injured robber to the Kajang Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
 Rashid said checks on the robbers' motorcycle that was left at the scene revealed that it belonged to the 40-year old dead man from Batu 9, Cheras.
"He was wanted for an armed robbery in Petaling Jaya in 2005, and was also a Simpang Renggam detainee arrested in 2006 under Special Prevention Measures ," he said.
