For three days, a group of gamblers turned a Chinese temple into a mini casino.
However, their “gambling den” was busted by police following a tip-off from the public.

Kulaijaya OCPD Supt Zulkefly Yahya said that 12 men between the ages of 36 and 63 were arrested at the temple located along Jalan Manis 5 in Taman Manis Kelapa Sawit here on Sept 9 at around 12.50am.
He added that during the raid, the suspects were busy gambling and did not notice that the police had cornered them.
“Some of them tried to escape but we managed to arrest all of them, including the mastermind,” he said during a press conference at the district police headquarters here yesterday.
Supt Zulkefly also said that police seized various items used by the group and cash – RM17,358 and S$944 (RM2,430).
In an unrelated matter, police are looking for three suspects – believed to be foreigners – following a break-in at a vegetable factory at Desa Perindustrian Kulai 2 in Kelapa Sawit here on Aug 26.
Supt Zulkefly said that the police received a report from the factory owner who had found signs of a break-in and the safe box tampered.
“The three suspects had entered the factory around 3.10am through the roof before escaping via the backdoor.
“The suspects, who were masked, escaped with more than RM40,000,” he said. The robbery was recorded on CCTV cameras positioned inside the factory.
He urged those with information on the robbery to contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999.
KULAIJAYA: Police have detained 34 suspects believed to be involved in gang activities in the district during Ops Cantas Khas.
Kulaijaya OCPD Supt Zulkefly Yahya said the 13 suspects have already been charged in court.
He added that with the arrests, police have solved seven cases under Section 147 and Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and unlawful assembly.
Supt Zulkefly also said that police are looking for two suspects to help with investigations.
The suspects are K. Thevarajan or better known as Dewa, 27, whose last known address is No 12454, Jalan Tekukur 7 in Bandar Putra. The other suspect is R. Silver Kumar or better known as Abas, 34, whose last known address is No 142, Jalan Bintang 5 at Taman Bintang in Senai here.
Supt Zulkefly urged those with information relating to the whereabouts of the two suspects to contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999 immediately.
“The police would continue to conduct Ops Cantas Khas to find suspected criminals.
“We urge the public to be patient when we conduct roadblocks as our main duty is to prevent crime,” he said.
