KLANG: Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has launched Klang's third bridge, named Jambatan Raja Muda Nala after the 18th century Raja Muda Selangor.
Sultan Sharafuddin revealed the name of the RM199mil bridge, which was completed ahead of schedule and opened in May.
Raja Muda Nala was one of the sons of Sultan Sallehuddin Shah, the first Sultan of Selangor (1756-1778).
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the 2.5km bridge linked the northern and southern parts of Klang through Jalan Goh Hock Huat and Jalan Sungai Bertih.
''It is expected to take about 20% of the existing flow of traffic from Kota Bridge and Jambatan Musaeddin and I hope the bridge would be fully utilised by commuters,'' he said at the launching ceremony here on Sunday (Nov 19).
Work on the bridge started on July 17, 2014 and was aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Klang.
