PETALING JAYA: Lee Chong Wei showed that he was back in the groove by winning the Hong Kong Open in style.
The 35-year-old was on fire when he pulled of a sensational 21-14, 21-19 win over two-time world champion Chen Long of China in a 47-minute men’s singles final at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon on Sunday.
The Malaysian pulled off some incredible shots and did not give up even when he was trailing 10-15 in the second game. He kept his composure and clawed back into the game to troop home as a deserving winner.
It was Chong Wei’s second Superseries title this season.
With the win, Chong Wei has qualified for the World Superseries Finals in Dubai from Dec 14-18 as one of the eight qualifiers.
