GEORGE TOWN: A video of people venting their anger towards two Penang Island City Council (MBPP) officers went viral on social media today.

The five-minute, 12-second video showed a silver Toyota Vios with its front right wheel clamped. The car is believed to have been parked at a spot for the disabled at Jalan Macalister.

The incident is believed to have happened about 2pm today.

It is believed that the car did not display any 'OKU' sticker, which prompted council officers to clamp the car. A summons was left on the windscreen with a phone number which could be contacted in order to unlock the clamp.

The video then showed an elderly woman being pushed in a wheelchair by a younger woman, believed to be her daughter. The duo were seen waiting for several minutes for the officers to come by and release the clamp.

Minutes after two officers arrived, locals began gathering to express their anger against the officers, who were reluctant to unlock the clamp until the RM50 fine was paid.

A security guard also appeared on the scene to lambast the officers.
