Man, 84, arrested for allegedly molesting 3 granddaughters

SHAH ALAM: An 84-year-old man has been arrested by police today on suspicion of sexually molesting his three granddaughters, all of whom are sisters aged 16, 15 and 10.
The matter came to light after the 10-year-old girl confessed to her stepmother that the paternal grandfather has been touching her private parts since she was 6.
The girl opened up to her 38-year-old stepmother at their home in Bandar Bukit Raja in Klang at 1.45am yesterday.
It happened when the girl refused to enter her bedroom to sleep when told to do so by her stepmother.
Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazelan Paijan said the girl's repeated refusal to go into the room caused the stepmother to suspect something was amiss.
"When the woman pressed on for an answer, the girl said the grandfather has been molesting her since she was 6. It happened when her parents were not at home. The grandfather would go over to their house frequently to stay since he lives alone in Kampung Delek, Klang.
"The girl also said her two elder sisters, aged 16 and 15, were also molested by the grandfather. The girl had kept the act a secret as she was afraid of being reprimanded," said Mazelan.
He added that at 7.30pm later that day (yesterday), the girl's parents had gone to the grandfather's house to confront him.
"However, the grandfather denied it. The mother subsequently lodged a police report as she was upset with the grandfather and wanted action to be taken against him," said Mazelan.
He added that the girl has been sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for check-up.
The grandfather, added Mazelan, will be investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for physical sexual assault on a child. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
