Filipino beatboxer from Davao makes it to ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ grand finals
Two years after auditioning for the first season of Asia’s Got Talent, Filipino beatboxer Neil Rey Garcia Llanes has made it to the grand finals in the reality show’s second season.
Llanes, who hails from Davao City, landed the spot after winning the public vote yesterday.
In his latest performance, judge David Foster complimented Llanes and said that people should vote for him.
“You said that this is your medicine, it’s the best medicine, man. It’s unbelievable. I think people need to vote for you,” Foster said.
Llanes had auditioned for Asia’s Got Talent‘s first season in 2015 and got a “yes” vote from all four judges but he dropped out from the competition to pursue his studies.
“I decided to drop the chance for the first season, finish first my studies, and audition again for the next season,” he told Sunstar Davao.
He wowed judges again with his beatboxing act this season. Foster, Indonesia singer Anggun, and K-Pop icon Jay Park all gave Llanes a standing ovation.
“We have no more golden buzzers to give you,” Foster told Llanes referring to the feature that allows judges to advance contestants to the semifinals. “But you actually could win this competition,’ the judge continued.
The grand finals will be aired on Dec. 7, Thursday, where the winner will get a grand prize of US$100,000.
