Suriani Ahmad appointed as new Women, Family and Community Development Ministry sec-gen

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Suriani Ahmad is now appointed as the new Women, Family and Community Development Ministry secretary-general replacing Datuk Dr Rose Lena Lazemi.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, said Suriani would assume her new responsibility starting Thursday.
Suriani holds a Bachelor of Communication (Hons) degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Master in Strategy and Diplomacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
“She has served in the civil service for over 23 years when she joined the administrative and diplomatic service on March 21 1994.
“She is appointed based on her qualifications and experiences in various fields, including economics, international trade, safety, and also experienced in handling regional and international negotiations,” Ali said.
He said Suriani’s previous positions included as International Trade and Industry Ministry Consultation Policy and Coordination Division of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) policy director, Defence Ministry deputy secretary-general (Policy) and Home Ministry secretary-general (Control and Enforcement).
