KUALA LUMPUR: A former chief executive officer of a government-linked company (GLC) was charged in a Sessions Court here with five counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) totalling RM2.575mil.
Datuk Nor Badli Munawir Mohamad Alias Lafti pleaded not guilty to using his position in TH Heavy Engineering Bhd (THHE), which is an associate company of Tabung Haji to commit CBT about four years ago through five cheques worth RM400,000, RM570,000, RM430,000, RM600,000 and RM575,800. Nor Badli, 51, allegedly committed the offence at THHE Fabricators Sdn Bhd’s office at Level 23, Tower B, Menara UOA Bangsar, No. 5 Jalan Bangsar Utama 1, Bangsar here between April and October 2013.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Thangavelu later offered bail at RM2.5mil and passport to be surrendered to the court.
In asking for a lower bail, Nor Badli’s counsel Kitson Foong, who was assisted by counsel Cheetan Jethwani, asked for bail to be set at RM200,000.
Foong said his client was a director of numerous companies and was not a flight risk, adding that he has six children to support.
Judge Madihah Harullah fixed bail at RM400,000 pending mention on March 15.
She also ordered Nor Badli to surrender his passport.
