2019 Asian Cup Qualifiers: Malaysia Up Against North Korea, Hong Kong, Lebanon
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has been drawn with North Korea, Hong Kong and Lebanon in Group B of the 2019 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Ong Kim Swee’s side were in Pot Four in the draw conducted in Abu Dhabi today.
Only the top two sides in each of the six groups will advance to the 24-team 2019 Asian Cup Finals in UAE.
Malaysia, who failed to make the semi-finals of last year’s AFF Cup, are expected to face challengers from North Korea and Lebanon for the two qualifying spots.
Group matches will be played on March 28, June 13, Sept 5, Oct 10, Nov 14 and March 27, 2018.
UAE, Qatar, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Uzbekistan, Syria, Iraq, Iran and China have booked their tickets for the Asian Cup by virtue of qualifying for the AFC World Cup final round qualifiers.
Group A: Kyrgyzstan, India, Myanmar, Macau
Group B: North Korea, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Malaysia
Group C: Jordan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Cambodia
Group D: Oman, Palestine, Maldives, Bhutan
Group E: Bahrain, Turkmenistan, Taiwan, Singapore
Group F: The Philippines, Tajikistan, Yemen, Nepal
