PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested five people, including a woman, over the assault of a lorry driver at Bukit Antarabangsa condominium in Ampang.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Mohamad Fuad Abdul Latiff said the five, in their 20s and 30s, were nabbed early Sunday in Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

"We have identified at least one or two more people involved in the incident.

"We know who their friends are, so I hope they will turn themselves in before we turn up at their houses," he told a press conference after launching the annual Chinese New Year Ops Selamat for Selangor at Sunway Pyramid on Sunday.

The assault attracted wide attention on social media after a video of it became viral recently.

DCP Mohd Fuad said police would be applying for remand orders on the five today.

He said the woman was involved in the assault although she was not seen in the video clip.

"Yes, we do not see her assaulting the victim in the video clip. But we have our reasons for her arrest as she is involved," he said.

The video clip showed a group of men assaulting the lorry driver following a misunderstanding between a Mercedes Benz and a lorry.

PETALING JAYA: Police have taken the statements of 15 people in relation to a fracas at a condominium in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur.

The incident, which was captured on video, showed five men assaulting two people near the condominium's guardhouse.

"We have sent the CCTV footage to the forensics department to assist in our investigations," said Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Elias during a press conference at the district police headquarters on Saturday.

ACP Hamzah also said that both drivers were not seriously injured in the fight.

He urged the public to stop making speculations over the circumstances of the video, which has since gone viral on social media.

"Don't sensationalise and speculate on the case – it helps nobody," said ACP Hamzah in reference to recent social media posts by certain parties who had shared the number plate of the car involved and even promised retaliation.

It was previously reported that police had detained a 30-year-old suspect connected to the case.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said on Saturday that they had already identified some of the men involved in the fight.

"We are currently searching for the rest. There are a few that we have already identified and the rest are still in the process of being identified.

"To those involved, present yourself to the police. If they do not, we will go after them," he said.

It was reported that the video showed five men attacking two people near the condominium guardhouse last Saturday.

The attackers initially ganged up on a man dressed in red before moving on to another man, who was wearing a brown shirt. The latter managed to escape the assailants.

On Thursday, ACP Hamzah said the fight broke out due to a misunderstanding over a minor accident involving a Mercedes-Benz and a lorry.

He said two men had driven into the condominium compound in a lorry to deliver bread and juice supplies to a convenience store there.

"They parked the lorry at the allotted spot. About 20 minutes later, four men arrived in a Mercedes-Benz and parked at the drop-off zone to attend a function.

"The lorry driver and his friend entered their vehicle after delivering the supplies and accidentally backed into the front of the Mercedes-Benz while reversing.

"This started a fight between the lorry driver and car driver," he said.

ACP Hamzah said four unknown men joined in the fight without knowing what had actually transpired.

"Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the scuffle. They did not use any weapons.

"The two parties did not lodge reports because they decided to settle the matter," he added.
