KUALA LUMPUR: Muhd Azarul Mukhriz Abd Rahman, the hiker who went missing in the Broga Hill since Sunday has been found alive today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said a team of hikers spotted the victim around 11.45am while hiking in the area.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said Azarul, who appeared stable but weak when found, was rushed to the Kajang Hospital for check-up.
One of the hikers who found him, Muhammad Ridhaullah said he and his friends were hiking in the area this morning when they heard a cry for help coming from the bushes.
They tried to pinpoint the location by telling Azarul to shake the nearby trees.
"We also told him to climb a little higher so we can spot him. As soon as we arrived, he tried to grab my hand. He collapsed almost immediately.
"Since he appeared so weak, we gave him some biscuits and water before descending the hill," he said.
As they were walking down, Muhammad said they spotted the search and rescue team and handed Azarul over to them.
On Sunday, Azarul went missing while hiking with 11 people, comprising of adults and children.
The hiking team only noticed that Azarul was missing when they arrived back at their starting point at 4pm.
Following his disappearance, a search and rescue operation was launched, with the help from the police, firemen, Mountain Search and Rescue members (Mosars) and Orang Asli volunteers.
