Rajinikanth Stranded at Chennai Airport Without Passport
On Monday morning, Chennai International Airport witnessed huge crowds and media coverage as Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was stranded there without his passport. Apparently, Rajinikanth had come to the airport to board the MH183 flight to Malaysia, where the final schedule of the actor’s gangster flick, Kabali will be shot over the course of next one month.
The whole incident was like a nail biting climax of a Rajinikanth movie as the actor realized that he had forgotten his passport and requested help from his assistant, who fetched it for him in the nick of time”, said a source close to the actor.
While Rajinikanth was waiting for his passport, he had a brief chat with the media personnel at the airport. “I thank PM Narendra Modi and the government for the Padma Vibhushan”, said the 65-year old. He also revealed that Kabali is inching closer to completion while the shooting for the magnum opus, 2.0, too, is progressing at a brisk pace.
Ater the chat, Rajinikanth waited at the VIP lounge and then boarded the Malaysia flight, which left at 11.47 am.
Directed by Ranjith, Kabali is scheduled to release in the month of May, while 2.0directed by Shankar, features an ensemble of actors including Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
(Karthik Kumar is an independent film critic and journalist. He actively follows and writes on popular South Indian cinema and covers independent films too.)
