Businessman robbed of RM30,000 in broad daylight in Seri Kembangan
KUALA LUMPUR: A businessman lost more than RM30,000 when he was robbed in broad daylight by a group of men armed with machetes at the parking lot of a bank in Seri Kembangan near here Tuesday.
In the 1 pm incident, the victim and his friend were about to leave the place when their car was suddenly blocked by a Toyota Vios.
Serdang police chief ACP Razimi Ahmad (pic) said four robbers came out of the vehicle and proceeded to smash the front windows of the victim's car with machetes before grabbing two backpacks containing the money.
"The suspects managed to cut off the straps of the bags which were held by the victim and his friend before fleeing.
"The victim had earlier withdrawn RM30,000 cash belonging to his company from the bank," he said in a statement Tuesday.
ACP Razimi said both victims sustained light injuries on the hands from window glass splinters.
"The victim also lost other items, including an iPad Air tablet, kept in one of the bags," he said.
Razimi said initial investigations found the suspects aged between 25 and 40.
"The car they were using was found to have used a fake number plate and efforts to track them down are being carried out," he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code. - Bernama
