PETALING JAYA: What is the first thing that you would do when you encounter a naked woman walking in a daze?
Would you go up to her and offer her clothes and assistance or would you whip out your phone to record the incident?
The latter is what happened when a woman was seen walking without her clothes on at a shop lot reportedly in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
The woman, who appeared to be in her twenties, entered a restaurant and sat there for good 30 minutes but no one approached her.
Rather, the patrons stared at her and questioned her lack of an outfit. Many turned to their phones to document the incident.
She was then escorted out by a security guard to a nearby building, where she reportedly stayed.
While the incident is still shrouded in mystery as there were no police reports, similar incidents in the past have shown that many have had a history of mental illness.
In February last year, a video of an Indonesian woman walking naked in the streets of Kuala Lumpur went viral.
She reportedly took off her clothes piece by piece while walking from the National Mosque to Kg Attap on a Friday afternoon.
Although it was not certain whether she was mentally unsound, she was brought to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
In a separate incident in the same year, a woman was arrested for stripping in public in Petaling Street. Her video had also made the rounds on social media.
She was later found to have had a history of mental illness and was once warded in a psychiatric hospital.
Perhaps society should aid, instead of judging and mocking those who could use our help?
