TAIPING: A scrap metal shop owner was shot dead in what could be drug related.
The 40-year-old man, who has past criminal records, including drugs, was shot near Giant hypermarket in Jalan Perusahaan 3 in Taman Tekah Permai here on Friday night.
Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Harrith Kam Abdullah said he suffered wounds on the head, abdomen and arm.
"He still manage to call one of his employees for help after he was shot.
"The worker called his younger brother who rushed to the scene and found him at the side of the road unconscious," ACP Harrith Kam said.
"They rushed the victim to Taiping Hospital and was pronounced dead there," he said.
"We haven't determine the motive behind the shooting. We are not ruling out revenge over some dealings," he said.
"A post mortem is being conducted now," he added.
ACP Harrith Kam urged those with information contact the police. The case has been classified as murder.
