All The Sultan's Men Return Home After A Week Out Of the State

    KLANG: The five individuals, who were officially proclaimed as recipients of various titles from Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Feb 20, returned home after spending a week outside the state.
    Tengku Seri Andika Diraja Tengku Datuk Iskandar Shah Tengku Ismail Alhaj, Engku Maharaja Lela Setia Paduka Datuk Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail Syed Amir Abidin Jamalullail, Tengku Seri Paduka Shah Bandar Tengku Datuk Ardy Esfandiari Alhaj Tengku Abdul Hamid Shah Alhaj, Tengku Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Sepang Prof Tengku Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Tengku Mahmud Shah Alhaj and Datuk Lela Jasa Diraja Datuk Richard Alexander John Curtis returned to pay homage and pledged allegiance to Sultan Sharafuddin yesterday.
    They participated in the age-old “Menjunjung Duli” ceremony and came bearing gifts for the state ruler.
    With the proclamation of the titles and the conclusion of the ceremony, the five recipients are now officially members of the Selangor palace’s inner circle and royal court officials.
    They were appointed several years ago but were only proclaimed last week.
    Tengku Iskandar Shah works for Public Bank Berhad, Syed Budriz is the executive chairman of Sepang Aircraft Engineering Sdn Bhd, Tengku Ardy Esfandiari is the executive director of CB Industrial Product Holding Berhad whilst Prof Tengku Dr Jamaluddin was a lecturer in Universiti Teknologi Mara before his retirement.
    Curtis is the managing director of the Cahaya Mata Sarawak Berhad Group.
    The event, which was held at the Istana Alam Shah throne hall, was attended by members of the royal family, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, members of the state administration and other dignitaries.
    The symbolic ceremony started from the time Raja Lumu Ibni Daeng Chelak was installed, in accordance to Malay tradition by the 16th Sultan of Perak Sultan Mahmud Shah, as the first Sultan of Selangor with the name Sultan Salehuddin on Dec 1, 1766.
