MIRI: A businesswoman has lodged a police report claiming embarrassment over unauthorised online circulation of selfies she had meant to share only with her Facebook friends.
Faridah Ulis, 45, also known as Mamadot, lodged the report at the Miri central police station on Wednesday morning and at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission branch here in the afternoon.
The selfies showed her with a penis-shaped bahulu cake, which Faridah claimed she found on sale at a shop before the Chinese New Year.
"My main intention in lodging the report with the police and MCMC is to find the culprits who shared my selfies without approval," she told Bernama here Thursday.
Faridah said she shared the selfies with her friends on Facebook, and not with those outside that circle in social media.  b
According to Faridah, the selfies were uploaded onto her Facebook account a few days before Chinese New Year.
She deleted them immediately after finding out that it had been posted to other groups without her knowledge.
"I had no bad intention when sharing the selfies with friends as it was just to inform them about the bahulu. It was unique, and I even bought some for my friends," she said.
She said the selfies when shared, wrongly stated that the bahulu was being sold in Langkawi for RM4 per packet.
"My husband is also upset over the negative comments made by netizens, criticising my action for taking selfies with that bahulu," Faridah added.
Bernama made a check and found that the shop, which sold the bahulu, had stopped taking orders for it after negative reactions from netizens and the public. – Bernama
