Rela member posing as Immigration Officer rams into MACC vehicle to escape arrest

Rela member rams into MACC vehicle to escape arrest

SEREMBAN: The fear of being arrested after soliciting and accepting a bribe, led a member of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), who posed as an immigration officer, to ram his car into a Negri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Comission (MACC) vehicle.
The 38-year-old suspect, who drove a Proton Wira Aeroback car, was arrested a while after the incident on Friday at a parking lot in a shopping complex at Seremban 2.
Negeri Sembilan MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the man had solicited a bribe of RM2,000 from a 37-year-old furniture trader, who only gave him RM800.
"The bribe was given to avoid action being taken against the trader's Pakistani worker who abused his work permit.
"The suspect received RM500 yesterday and received another RM300 today," he told Bernama here, Friday.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 16 (a)(A)of the MACC Act 2009. – Bernama
