Zulkifeli among 322 to receive awards in conjunction with FT Day

PETALING JAYA: Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin heads the list of 322 people conferred awards and medals in conjunction with Federal Territories Day today
He receives the Darjah Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah (SUMW), which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama. Also getting the SUMW is former Kuala Lumpur mayor Tan Sri Dr Elyas Omar.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah will confer the awards and medals at Istana Negara today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mah Siew Keong, Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong, Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, press secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad and Eitoshin Shoji Co Ltd chief executive officer Datuk Tam Yun Tong are among 22 recipients of the Darjah Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri.
Sixty-eight people also received the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award, which carries the title Datuk.
Among them are Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan, Civil Defence Department director-general Ogu Salim Omar and MCA central committee member and Star Foundation trustee Tan Chong Seng.
Others conferred Datukships include Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman, Manpower Department director-general Datuk Chin Phaik Yoong and Bernama domestic news service deputy editor-in-chief Datuk Mokhtar Hussain.
Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan also said another 44 individuals would receive the Bintang Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW).
There were also another 56 individuals who were conferred the Bintang Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW).
National Union of Journalists (peninsular) president Chin Sung Chew of Sin Chew Jit Poh, Berita Harian Putrajaya bureau chief Magendran Rajagopal and Asan Ahmad @ Hassan Ibin of Kosmo! are among 54 individuals conferred the Bintang Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW), while 76 individuals will receive the Pingat Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW).
