JASIN: Sprinter Badrul Hisham Abdul Manap arrived for the first time at his parents' house here at 12.15pm today, after emerging as 'Malaysia Fastest Man' last month.
The 18-year-old was accorded a rousing welcome by scores of villagers and fans who had waited for him since 11.30am. He was greeted with kompang troupe as soon as he arrived.
Among those who greeted him was state agriculture committee chairman Datuk Hasan Abdul Rahman. Present were his mother Rozinah Baba, 49, and other family members.
Badrul became the country's latest sprint sensation after winning a gold medal in the 100-metre event at the Asean School Games in Brunei on Nov 24.
He clocked a new national record of 10.29 seconds, smashing Watson Nyambek's 17 year-old record of 10.30 seconds.
