KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied that Bersih 2.0 chief and activist Maria Chin Abdullah (pix) was arrested after the Bersih 4 rally ended.
A news portal claimed that the Bersih leader was held at about 12.40am on Monday to facilitate investigations.
City police chief Comm Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa described the report as irresponsible and baseless.
"We did not arrest Maria. I don't know where they got their details from," he said.
Comm Tajuddin urged the public not to circulate unverified reports to avoid provocation.
"Please do not spread lies. We don't want any untoward incident to happen. Be responsible in what you share on the Internet," he added.
